Scripture Passage: Matthew 15:1-14
Blind Leaders Attract Blind Followers
Jesus was unarguably the greatest leader that ever lived; therefore, it is wisdom to pay rapt attention to anything He says about leadership. Once, the Pharisees and Scribes became offended as Jesus challenged their hypocritical behaviour. When Jesus' disciples pointed this out, He said, "Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind." It is interesting to note that Jesus referred to both the leaders and the followers as blind. The reason for this is also the leadership lesson for today.
The lesson here is this; we do not attract into our lives who we want, but who we are. Therefore, if a leader is blind, those who follow him are also blind. Like begets like and for this reason Jesus referred to the religious leaders as 'blind leaders of the blind'. So if you don't like the people you are attracting into your life, don't change them, change you.
Prayer: Father, help me to become like those I wish to attract into my life.
