An Unresponsive State
by PamFord Davis Picture this if you will A man is deeply in love and proposes marriage to the woman of his dreams. Sadly, he gets no response. She looks at him as if she did not hear a single word he said. The man is sorrowful and confused. Did she not understand? What is the cause for her unresponsive state? Through His word and messengers, the LORD God invites the unresponsive to make a commitment. He patiently waits for a positive response. "Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says: 'Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, on the day of testing in the desert, where your fathers tested Me, tried [Me], and saw My works for 40 years (Hebrews 3:7-10a HCS)."
