God Stepped In
by Scott McKenzie

In the last few years of my life God has done amazing things. He has brought me through the darkest storms. People have told me in the past that i can't do certain things, but i know it says in the BIBLE that all things are possible. I can certainly testify to that.

Two years ago I lost my ability to walk I was confined to a wheelchair from a condition that was separate from the Parkinson's disease i was already living with, called Dystonia. It was causing my feet to turn inwards. The muscles in my ankle were badly contracted and i had no flexibility in my ankles. I wondered why God who loves me and fearfully and wonderfully made me (Psalm 39:14) would make me go through another trial. I never questioned it. I had already been saved more than 10 years ago. I know God has a plan for my life. I never once let go of the fact that with Jesus all things can be possible.

I was meeting with my physical therapist one afternoon, who is also a believer. We were struggling together he trying to flex my ankles and me to keep pushing, willing to let him twist me into a pretzel. That is no joke i could barely move my legs. He suggested i see an foot and ankle specialist to see if there was anything that could be done. So i went and i asked them about releasing the tendons in my ankles. My therapist and I prayed about it, and by His counsel we came to the realization that we should see if tendon release surgery would work. So in keeping with Gods plan i saw a specialist who told me tendon release would not work, choosing instead to send me to a sports medicine doctor for botox injections. They did little if anything to help me. I knew that I should be listening to God, not some other doctor. I was sent by my sports medicine doctor to another specialist who told me they could fuse my ankles but only one at a time. He told i might not walk but i could stand up. My mother and i were getting fed up with the whole thing. I silently prayed in the name of Jesus.

Finally God stepped in, as if to remind us that he had everything under control. I know that i should have completely trusted Him, and from then on i do, we were at Pennsylvania hospital visiting my dbs programmer for my Parkinson's symptoms. The programmer is a believer. She informed my mother and i that we should talk to a specialist in the orthopedics department. So because of God speaking through my neurological programmer. We went and spoke to the Orthopedic specialist, who not only confirmed what God had shown me about tendon release, but promised my mother i would walk again. By the way my orthopedic surgeon is a believer also.

I had the surgery on January 30, 2014. I was able to walk on February 5,2014. God had planned it perfectly, he knew the process, he knew the surgeon, He knew me. To this day my life has continued to be a blessing. I tell others about what God has done, but He is able to do anything. Jesus healed the blind and the sick, the Leper, and me. When God steps in anything becomes possible.
