Scripture Passage: Numbers 16:1-28
The Leader Must Know the Origin of His Authority
Korah, Dathan and Abiram challenged Moses, saying, "We are all holy, so why do you lift yourself above us?" (Paraphrased) They wanted to know who made Moses their leader and Moses told them, because he knew.
The lesson here is this; every leader is under authority and this is where his own authority lies. No one emerges leader without a backing of some kind. When a leader is challenged, he must be able to identify his backing. A leader who does not know the origin of his authority may crumble when challenged. Jesus knew who sent Him. David when running from Absalom trusted that God who made him king would bring him to Jerusalem again. Moses said, to Korah and company, "hereby ye shall know that the Lord hath sent me." However, the first time Moses' authority was challenged, he had no answer, so he fled Egypt. Who sent you? Do you know?
Prayer: Father, help me to know the origin of my authority as a leader.
