The Angry Fool
by Jennifer Champion

A fool gives full vent to his spirit, but a wise man quietly holds it back. (Proverbs 29:11)

Anger is powerful.

Anger destroys relationships.

Anger cause people to say hateful, obscene things.

There are so many things sometimes I want to say to people. There are people in my life that have done me wrong and don't stop. There was a time in my life when I could give it as good as I could get it. One of my favorite curse words back in the day was the F-word. I threw it around like I was throwing popcorn to seagulls at the beach. I look back on it and all it ever did was ignite the fire that anger had flamed.

To learn how to be quiet and turn the other cheek is hard. I have worked so hard on biting my tongue that it is a wonder I have a tongue to eat with it anymore. The really cool thing about it is that now that I don't ignite that flame anymore with my angry words, my relationships are much better. My life is calmer.

Another plus is that once a person stop igniting the fire or responding in such an angry way, the people on the receiving end will eventually get the message. They won't try so hard to get the flames going because they know it won't do any good.

The person that is able to hold back their tongue and control their anger is wise. The person that lets it show every time the wind blows a smell they don't like looks like crazy person, a fool.

Dear Lord, thank you for giving us your words of wisdom. I do not want to be the fool and I want to control the things I say and do but it is so hard sometimes because I am attacked constantly. Please help me to keep calm and in control. I need your help. Amen.
