Liar, Liar
by PamFord Davis

'Liar, liar, pants on fire!'

That childish chant is likely a takeoff of 'The Liar,' a poem by William Blake, dating back to 1810.

Accusing taunts of children are more valid than I might first recognize. No, I don't actually witness smoke billowing from liars trousers but those who persist in the spreading of lies are traveling down a dangerous path. The Bible reveals the seriousness of lies. Liars align themselves with a group bound for fires of judgment.

"Then He who sat on the throne said, 'Behold, I make all things new.' And He said to me, 'Write, for these words are true and faithful.' And He said to me, 'It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts. He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son. But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death (Revelation 21:6-8 NKJ)."

God 'so loved,' yes, even the liars

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved (John 3:16-17 NKJ)."
