People Who Are Guilty Of Blood (1).
by Olawale Ogunsola

"You must not murder." Exodus 20:13.
This remains a simple, direct but wide instruction of the Lord to His people. The Lord alone reserves the right to give and take life of any human being. It then became a wrong against the Creator of Heaven and earth to kill anybody. Every act of murder is punishable by the Lord.

The concern of this piece is the depth and width of this command. Those who are involved in this evil act are more than can be envisaged.

Who are those who are involved in murder?

One.
Those who kill another person by sword, gun, and other similar things like these. This is the most commonly believed to be murder. It is also taken by many people as the only form of murder available.

This is punishable by law easily because evidences can be obtained and witnesses can be available to prove this case.

During Christ's arrest, Peter wanted to defend his Master. He drew a sword with which he cut a man's ear. Christ's warning was
"Put away your sword. Those who use the sword will die by the sword." Matthew 26:52.

That is to say, anyone who kills by the sword or any other similar object or substance is guilty of blood.

Two.
Those people who organise how someone is murdered is also guilty of blood. This group of people may not directly kill the victim but arrange how killers will suceed in their evil act.

For instance, recently in Nigeria, a man invited his friend to his birthday party where the invitee was killed for failing to join their secret cult. The "celebrant" did not touch the victim but he was responsible for making it possible.

Absalom's revenge mission also falls into this category. He organised how Amnon was murdered because he defiled Absalom's sister, Tamar. Read details in 2 Samuel13:23-32.

Three.
Those who have hands in another person's death. This group of people also do not directly involve themselves in murder but they are remotely connected with the it.

An example of this can be found in the life of David, a king in Israel. After he put Bathsheba in the family way, he wrote a letter to Joab, the army commander, which he sent by the hand of Uriah, the woman's husband to ensure Uriah's death in the war front.

Joab executed the king's instructions contained in the letter. Uriah died by the sword of the enemies, the Ammonites. Details are contained in 2 Samuel 11: 14-27.

Both king David and Joab were guilty of blood in various forms and they paid different penalties. Are you also not guilty of blood like them? Repentance is what you need.

Four.
There are blood guilty people who have only a 'say' in the murder of persons. This group of people only give their approval before, during or after a murder is commited. The case of Absalom is also relevant here. He did not hold a sword but he said to his men,
"Wait until Amnon gets drunk, then at my signal, kill him!
Don't be afraid. I am the one who has given the command. Take courage and do it!"" NLT.

So, at Absalom's signal, they murdered Amnon. The blood guity also died in a battle field, prematurely.

Five.
Numbers one to four above are the most popular among those who are guilty of blood. Do you know that there are people who commit murder by the words of their mouth? By what they say, lives are lost.

For instance, some time ago, a woman had two daughters. The older had no husband because no man ever proposed marriage to her. The younger daughter got married and had children.

One day, a son of the younger daughter called the older by name, which is contrary to their culture. His aunt reported to grandma who added insult to her injury.

The old woman replied her, "You don't know how to be shy. At your age, you have no husband and you have gut to report that your sister's son called you by name. It is a pity you don't know that the best step for you is to commit suicide because you are not fit to live."

That week, the older daughter killed herself.

Do you think her mother is free from blood guilt? There are so many people like this woman. The Scriptures says, "An hypocrite with his mouth destroyeth his neighbour..." KJV.

Are you a member of this group? Do you have a caustic tongue? Repent today.
Please, read the remaining points in part two of this piece.
Stay blessed and rapturable because the Lord is coming soon.
NOTE.
NlT is New Living Translation of the Holy Bible.
KJV is King James Version.
