Choir Robe
by PamFord Davis

If you are currently serving in your church choir, or have taken part in the past, you have likely donned a choir robe. Many churches save them for special occasion cantata performances.

They come in a large assortment of designs, colors, and sizes. At five-feet in stature, I look for an extra short robe. I vividly remember my first choir robe experiences

Kirkville Methodist is in a small rural NY State community; at that time, they had only a few faithful worshipers in choir. I'd guess, I was around eleven years of age when invited to join the choir.

Members entered the sanctuary from the front entrance at the start of service. In an adult sized cumbersome robe, I joined the procession down the aisle to the choir loft.

The LORD dresses his children in robes of righteousness.

"I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels (Isaiah 61:10 KJV)."
