Ruth
by Cinda Carter

While the judges ruled...
There was a famine in the land of Bethlehem.
The family of Elimelech moved,
Until they settled into Moab, a far and distant land.

Naomi's husband passed on...
Her only two sons were to pass on their legacy.
With hopes of a family through her sons, Mahlon and Chilion.
They married wives named Orpah and Ruth who had no pregnancies.

After living in Moab for ten years...
Naomi looses her two sons.
With this in mind, how much more can Ruth endure.
Loosing a father-in-law, brother-in-law, and husband.

With grief all around them in loosing their closet of family...
Naomi bids both of her two daughter-in- laws to go back home,
Then decides to go back to her own country.
Ruth pleads with her mother-in-law.

Ruth said, "Please, don't leave me"...
"Or bid me to return to my families home to lodge."
"I will go wherever you will go", don't you see.
"Your people will be my people and your God will be my God."

"Let only death part, me and you"...
So, Naomi was content to bring Ruth to Bethlehem-judah.
Because of Ruth's choice she was adopted into God's family of Jews.
A close relative of Naomi's called Boaz married Ruth.

Boaz and Ruth gave birth to Obed...
Obed gave birth to Jesse.
Jesse gave birth to King David,
The descendants of our Lord and Savior, Jesus.

God took a bad situation and turned it around for good...
What seemed hopeless for Naomi and Ruth.
God mends broken hearts through part of life's discords.
Ruth forever remembered through God's word of truth.
