The Throne and the Cross
by Terry R A Eissfeldt The time has come to choose Who is on the throne of my heart Who is on the cross? When You are firmly established on the throne When You reign without complaint from me When You are central in my every move And are my being I readily confess Your name. Jesus, You are my Christ Jesus, You are my source of life Jesus, You are my King You reign from the throne in my heart And I with all the decaying flesh of the old Adam Am on the cross Content to deny myself Secure in Your finished work Silent before any accusation Except when I confess Your name But when I sit on the throne of my heart When I reign in tyrannical fashion Loudly and with much explanation As to the justification of my position I constantly deny Your name Jesus, You're an embarrassment Jesus, You're a crutch Jesus, I am independent I am in control of my life And I reign on the throne You are on the cross Silently waiting Silently shedding Your life in place of mine Hoping, believing that I will See and stop denying Your name The time has come to choose Who is on the throne of my heart Who is on the cross? __________________________________________________ NASB Matt 10:32-33 "Therefore everyone who confesses Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father who is in heaven.
