Divine Diplomacy
by Joyce Samuel

Admit it Lord, you are fed up
Of this one life, full of hiccups
Go on and tell me to my face:
'Surely you can't be born of grace'.

Even I too know I surely can't
Those who are have a victory chant
But this one life of mine oh Lord
Must be severed from the victory cord.

Father I think I'm going crazy
What is this - divine diplomacy?
That will not say things as they are
But keep on saying, 'You're a star'.

Let it out Lord - sometimes You wonder
At such a life so full of blunders -
Of all your temples, the only one
That sighs and weeps, 'The glory's gone'.

You know, I think I really try
To spread my wings and daily fly
Prove to the world that Jesus saves
His peace and joy I ever crave.

But then my growth is very slow
And lo! I find it quite a blow
That for all my years in Christ alas!
I've been repeating just one class.

Why You still love me I don't know
Divine diplomacy - must be so!
Lord You're tired, but just too kind
To say to me, 'Get thee behind'.

Just let me be, can You not see
That they're still here right inside me
The works of flesh I've battled with
Fire fighters from the pit.

They've fought my fire and they have won
This flame of mine just can't stand strong
I want to give up now I plead
Divine diplomacy, take the lead.

What's that You say, You won't let go?
Your firelighters are in tow?
The hosts of hell will surely bow?
Your consuming fire none can cow?

I'm speechless Lord, this cannot be
My silly thought - diplomacy
It must be love now I can see -
For why else would you fight for me?

I'm humbled Lord, but I'm so proud
I stand up tall while in a crowd
I see a future and a hope
Please lead the way, I now can cope.
