What's The Word?
by Annagail Lynes

The Lord repay your work, and a full reward be given you by the Lord God of Israel, under whose wings you have come for refuge." Ruth 2:12

I've heard it said that the promises of the Old Testament are only for the Hebrews.

Only this promise was made to a woman who was not a Hebrew. Ruth was a Moabite woman.

She had no covenant with Almighty God, but she had what the woman at the well, the woman with the issue of blood, the Roman Centurion and the woman with the demon-possessed daughter had.

She had faith. She believed in the God of her mother-in-law Naomi, even when Naomi's faith seemed to waver.

God gave her a full reward for all she did to help her mother-in-law, for taking care of Naomi, for listening and doing what Naomi told her to do even when the traditions probably seemed foreign to Ruth.

We have to have that kind of faith. The kind of faith that takes God at His Word. The kind of faith that acts on whatever God is directing us to do without question.

It's okay to ask for confirmation if you feel that God is leading you in a certain direction, but asking for a fourth, fifth or fifty-seventh sign is too much.

Two questions to ask yourself, though: A) does what you feel God is leading you to do line with the Word? B) are the circumstances starting to line up with that leading?

The best thing to do is keep praying about it and see if you still feel peace. If you do, move forward. If not, stop, get quiet and see where God is actually leading you.

What is God directing you to do? What is it going to take for you to take God at His leading and do what He is calling you to do?
