Our God Given Body
by Leonard Granger

When we became a servant of our gracious and loving Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, we were bought at a price. Our Lord died on the cross shedding his precious blood, was buried, and rose again on the third day; so that we could become children of God. In the Bible, Apostle Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 6:20, " For ye are bought with a price, therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's."

God also tells us what was going to happen in the future when he speaks to Adam after he had sinned in the garden. Genesis 3:22, " And the Lord God said, Behold , the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil; and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever." God, also loved Adam and Eve, so He provided coats of skins to cloth them when they were naked. The covering of skins foretold a day when God's Son, Jesus Christ, would come and offer Himself for the sins of the whole world. Yes, even today we can live forever, if we put forth our hand to God's Son Jesus Christ and ask for forgiveness of our sins and accept him as our Savior,

Recently, I have been reading an original copy of " Pushing To The Front : published in 1912 and its old yellowed pages relate to living in those days . Quote" What are our bodies but timepieces made by an Infinite Hand, wound up to run a century, and so delicately adjusted to heat and cold that the temperature will not vary half a degree between the heat of summer and the cold of winter. God has given us a long life, but we have made it short. Thomas Parr of England lived to the age of 152 years (1483-1636) and Henry Jenkins of Yorkshire, England lived to be 169 years of age (1501-1670)", however, today man lives around 75 years of age.

We are fashioned after the Creator's image and what we do with our life here on the earth is up to us. Do we pray daily for the Lord's direction and protection as he tells us in Mathew 21:22. "And all things, whatsoever ye ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive. " If we ask him, he will keep us from the sins of the flesh that often shorten our life and the time we have to serve him.

It is an insult to the Creator who designed our bodies so wonderfully, in His image, that we do not take better care of our body. In our younger age, we may have had habits that took a toll on our body that we regret today. Nature may have a say and not heal over time, as we had thought, and whatever we do now is in the Hands of the Lord to heal.

Remember, God gave man a body with a soul like no other creature. As a Christian our soul gives a life filled with hope, joy and love to share with those we come in contact, as we spread the Gospel to this sinful world.

Trust this Sunday we will be in the church of our choice singing and worshiping our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

God Bless America
