Are You In A Home Or In A Hold?
by Olawale Ogunsola

There are three necessities of life as widely believed. These are:Food, clothing and shelter. Every serious government works hassiduously to meet these needs of her citizens. Any government that fails in these areas will surely be scored very low in performance.

This three remain the cravings of every man. To own a home is to enjoy some reasonable comfort. It is to own a place of rest.

During the pursuit of David by King Saul in the wilderness as reported in the Holy Bible, there was an exchange of words between the duo and afterwards, it was recorded,
"And David swore to Saul, And Saul went home, but David and his men went up to the strong hold. "I Sam 24:22. NKJV

This simply means that king Saul went to his place of comfort and rest where he had access to all that he needed.

Contrariwise, David and his men went to the stronghold.
The word "stronghold" applies to David and his men. Of the various meanings of the word, let us briefly examine three :
1. A place of survival or refuge. David and his men became refugees. They had access to minimum comfort with little or no rest of mind. They relocated from one wilderness to another.
2. An area dominated or occupied by a special group or distinguished by a special quality. This is also an apt description of David and his men and others who were with him. Notice I Samuel 22:1-2
"David therefore departed from there and escaped to the cave of Adullam so when his brothers and all his fathers house heard it, they went down to him, And everyone who was discontented gathered to him, so he became captain over them. And there were about four hundred men with him",.
The captain and his people are a group of the oppressed.
3. A fortified place or a fortress. During their sojourn in the wilderness, David and his men could not afford to risk their lives by living in plains but in caves and other secured places.
Does your situation resemble that of David? In every sense of the word, are you in a hole (stronghold) and not in a home?

Note these three things:
1. It is for a season. Read Ecclesiastes 3: 1-8. It will come to an end one day. It's end may be nearer than you anticipate. The Lord will bring a sudden change in His own time. Ecclesiastes 3:11. You will then rejoice.

2. Do not envy anyone who is living in the comfort of his home. There is no need for this; others have their lives to live and you have yours also. If such people are like king Saul, the scriptures warms you,
"Do not fret because of evil doers,
Nor be envious of the workers of iniquity.
For they shall soon be cut down like the grass
And wither like herb. " Psalm 37:1-2 NKJV.

3. Patiently wait on the Lord your God. Everything will pass away except God. If you patiently wait on Him, He will strengthen you. In your passthrough, you will retain hope. That is why you must rest in the Lord. He will surely turn your negative situation around for good.

You will soon depart from living in a hole to live in a home where you will enjoy rest and comfort where nothing will frighten you.
Stay blessed and rapturable because the Lord is coming soon.
