Grasping
by PamFord Davis

"One person gives freely,
yet gains more;
another withholds what is right,
only to become poor.

A generous person will be enriched,
and the one who gives a drink of water
will receive water (Proverbs 11:24-25 HCS)."

I remember the pride I felt when our newborn children first grasped my finger. Soon, they progressed to grasping rattles or mobiles in their cribs. The latest achievements were memorable and I wrote them in their baby books.

When as an adult, I grasp material objects; I sin and withhold blessings from the needy.

If I give generously my life is richer.

" it is necessary to help the weak and to keep in mind the words of the Lord Jesus, for He said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive (Acts 20:35b HCS)."
