Is Your Relationship with God Blooming
by Karen White

"Beware that you do not forget the Lord your God by not keeping His commandments, His judgments, and His statutes which I command you today, lestwhen you have eaten and are full, and have built beautiful houses and dwell in them; and when your herds and your flocks multiply, and your silver and your gold are multiplied, and all that you have is multiplied;" Deuteronomy 8:11-13 NKJV

Remember how excited you were when you purchased your first house, vehicle, boat? You decorated, cleaned, and proudly showed off your purchase. Then after a while the thrill wore off, and it became just another possession. Some marriages fall victim to this same scenario. The couple is so excited to be married then after time one partner begins to take the other one for granted, and the marriage falters.

God, knowing our human nature included this verse in Deuteronomy warning us not to forget. We should not become so accustom to God's blessings that we take them for granted and are no longer appreciative of His gifts. For when one becomes complacent and forgets the one responsible for distributing the blessings, they become less concerned about keeping His commandments and statutes.

God is very gracious to us, but we are still responsible for adhering to His commandments, being obedient, seeking His will, and trusting in Him. It is when we put Him at the center of our lives that our relationship with Him blossoms.

Dear Lord, You have so richly blessed my life; it is to You that I am thankful. In Jesus's name, amen.
