Must Christians OBEY AN EVIL GOVERNMENT?
by Eugene Lopatynsky Does God want us to obey an evil government? A passage in Romans is often quoted as an excuse to obey all authority, whether good or bad. Quoted especially by those who receive a bribe of tax-free money in return for bowing before (for never resisting) the POLITICAL forces of Satan. Let us examine the actual intention of Ro 13:1-6. Romans 13: 1-2 1. Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is NO POWER BUT OF GOD: the powers that be are ORDAINED OF GOD. 2. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ORDINANCE OF GOD: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. The way the passage has been translated it would appear to support all authority, both good and evil. A REBUTTAL OF THIS POSITION COMES IMMEDIATELY AS WE CONTINUE FURTHER IN ROMANS 13:3-6. These verses define exactly what type of authority we should honor and obey: Ro 13:3. For RULERS ARE NOT A TERROR TO GOOD WORKS, BUT TO THE EVIL. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? DO THAT WHICH IS GOOD, and thou shalt have praise of the same: THE RULERS WE SHOULD OBEY MUST BE A TERROR TO THE EVIL. THESE RULERS MUST NEVER BE A TERROR TO GOOD WORKS AND GOOD LAWS. IT FOLLOWS THAT THE RULERS WORTHY OF OBEDIENCE MUST NEVER SUPPORT EVIL LAWS OR DEFEND EVILDOERS, NO? Ro.13: 4. For HE IS THE MINISTER OF GOD TO THEE FOR GOOD. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, A REVENGER TO EXECUTE WRATH UPON HIM THAT DOETH EVIL. THE PREVIOUS VERSE IS REPEATED NOW AGAIN, FOR EMPHASIS: THE RULER WE SHOULD OBEY MUST BE A MINISTER OF GOD, A MINISTER FOR DOING GOOD, A PROTECTOR OF THOSE WHO DO GOOD; A RULER WHO EFFECTIVELY "AVENGES", PUNISHES, THOSE DOING EVIL. IT CERTAINLY MEANS WRATH UPON THOSE PROMOTING EVIL LAWS AND EVIL DEEDS. NO? Ro 13:5. Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake. Ro 13:6. For this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are GOD'S MINISTERS, attending CONTINUALLY upon this very thing. OBEY THE HIGHER POWERS IF THEY ARE MINISTERS OF GOD, ATTENDING CONTINUALLY TO THE WILL OF GOD. (ROM 13:6). YOU DON'T BELIEVE IT? JUST READ IT AGAIN! Ro 13:7. Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour. RENDER THEIR DUES? WHAT SHOULD BE DUE TO A CORRUPT GOVERNMENT? THIS ESSENTIALLY MEANS TO OBEY A GOVERNMENT IF YOUR RULERS ARE MINISTERS OF THE GOD OF THE BIBLE, SEEKING THE WILL OF GOD; OBEY RULERS WHO EFFECTIVELY EXECUTE WRATH ON ALL EVIL, WHO PERSECUTE ALL WHO PROMOTE EVIL LAWS AND ALL WHO DISOBEY THE LAWS OF GOD! If you still don't believe it, then examine Ro 13:3-6 repeatedly; then examine the whole Bible. NEVER are we urged to obey EVIL. The whole Bible is well in context and without serious contradiction. IS OUR PRESENT GOVERNMENT COMPOSED OF MINISTERS OF GOD, OBEYING THE LAWS OF GOD? Who promotes murder by abortion today, who permits and protects criminals (against justice and against the public good), who permits and promotes pornography? Who destroys marriages, enforcing satanic laws? Who criminalized all Biblical discipline? Who pushes homosexuality into schools and into your churches? Who, they say, tries to establish gradually a one-world global government under the Antichrist? And a one-world Luciferian religion? "Religious" Leaders receive an elite, tax-free status for not telling their parishioners how to vote. Thank you, Priests, Pastors and Preachers Did they pay you enough money for NOT DEFENDING Christianity at the polls? Theoretically, in a Democracy, you can peacefully replace an evil government with a good government. After that you must obey and uphold and defend the good government you have elected. Should this not be a strong moral obligation for every honest Pastor? After this, for every Christian? Under a dictatorship a pastor might not be able to do much to protect his sheep. But in a democracy the tools to install and maintain an honest government are provided to all, ESPECIALLY to pastors of the sheep. To accept a bribe of tax-free money in order to NOT PROTECT his Christians from evil politicians, satanic laws and satanic judges - IS BETRAYAL, betrayal within a Democracy. We have no way to separate ourselves from the State and their satanic laws. This lying "separation" is in one direction only to separate us from our freedom to worship and to obey our God. WE HAVE NO WAY TO SEPARATE THE STATE FROM PERSECUTING OUR FAITH AND US. Is this not a real 'ONE WAY ONLY' SEPARATION? What are these "pastors" talking about? Did I say, "Thank you, Pastors", already? HOW ABOUT OBEYING GOD? Is it far more important than obeying any government? With infinite love God gave us a Savior, to pay our penalty for us, and a Bible, a guide and light on our path! The Bible is a love story; written with blood, upon a wooden cross; the story of God's love for you. Men are not lost because they are sinners; they are lost because they have rejected Jesus who died for them. Even if you go into a lost eternity and have not accepted Christ, He died for you, and you simply made His sacrifice for you of no avail. You have trodden underfoot the blood of your Savior. If you want the God of Love, instead of a god of lies and treason, pray now with me, "DEAREST LORD JESUS, FORGIVE ME MY SINS; PLEASE BE THE RULER OF MY LIFE. HELP ME TO LOVE YOU MORE EVERY DAY AND OBEY YOU WITH ALL MY STRENGTH; AND TO READ YOUR BIBLE DAILY, EVERY DAY OF MY LIFE." If you do this, and mean it, with an open heart, this prayer will never fail. It will become the greatest thing you will ever have, and it will last forever.
