7 Categories of Sins that God Forgave
by Tai Ikomi

The Bible repudiates this notion that the forgiveness of God has a limit. God's forgiving power is greater than the depth of our sins. The gruesomeness of your sins cannot surpass the power of God's compassion to forgive you.

The blood of Christ is powerful enough to forgive every sin, no matter how terrible and no matter how many there are. He is a forgiving God. Let us look at some of the people whose sins God forgave and which He can still forgive.

1. God will not only pardon sins of ignorance but also the ones committed on purpose.

Jesus asked His Father to forgive the Pharisees and the Romans who crucified Him. If God could forgive them, He can forgive you too.

2. He forgives the sins that we show out in the open as well as the secret ones.

God forgave the sins of David, which he committed in secret. He forgave the adulterous affair he had with Bathsheba and later on killed her husband. If God could forgive David following his repentance, He can forgive you too.

3. He forgives the sin we know and the one we do not know.

God forgave Paul for persecuting Christian believers before he realized he was acting out against God. God forgave the many Pharisees who persecuted many Christians but later came to believe in Jesus. If God could forgive the sins these people did not even know they were committing, then He can forgive you too. He forgives us when we confess our sins and He goes on to cleanse us from those sins we do not even know about.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).

4. He forgives all shades of sin.

God forgave the Israelites who kept on sinning again and again. He forgave the sins of murmuring against Him. He forgave the sin of injustice. He forgave the sin of unbelief. He forgave the sin of idolatry. His forgiveness astonishes us with its limitlessness.

5. He forgives iniquities and transgressions.
On Earth, Jesus forgave the tax collectors for their greed. He forgave the prostitutes for their lifestyle. He forgave the thief on the cross. He forgave the paralytic man. And if He forgave these sinners, He can forgive you as well.

6. He forgives our shortcomings and failures.
Jesus forgave the shortcomings of His disciples. He forgave their failings, which He witnessed every day. He forgave them for not joining Him in prayer at Gethsemane.

He forgave them for denying His name. He forgave Peter for his betrayal. On top of all that He prayed that their faith would not fail. If He forgave His disciples, He can forgive you too.

7. He forgives the sins of omission and commission.

How many sins of omission we have committed! The sin of not loving the Lord as we should. The sin of not praising Him as we should. The sin of not loving our neighbor as we love ourselves. David said if he were to count his sins they would be more than the hairs of his head.

All the same, the Lord forgave David of everything, and He can forgive you too if only you repent.

He is big enough to forgive ALL our sins. God will forgive every sin known to mankind. Because He is the supreme God, He will graciously pardon every sin:

"Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts. Let him turn to the LORD, and he will have mercy on him, and to our God, for he will freely pardon" (Isaiah 55:7).
