A Work And A Way.
by Olawale Ogunsola

An African Politician once said, "the only man who cannot be called a thief is someone who has been given the task of keeping a huge sum of money and does not steal any."
The work of keeping money is as old as civilization. At every stage of civilization, there are always been that need to put someone in charge of "the medium of exchange". Every group needs someone who can do this effectively and efficiently. It is a task to be carried out.
What are the functions of anyone who is in charge of the treasury? Let me mention about three, namely :
a. Safety of the fund in the treasury. Be it family, social, or national or international, it is the role of those in charge of fund to ensure it's well secured. There should be no theft or loss of fund. At any given time, it must be clearly accounted for by its handlers.
b. Knowing and providing A WORK AND A WAY

b. Knowing and providing for what ought to be done. Funds must be available as at when needed : to buy things, execute projects and many others. There should be no reason for lack of fund kept in their charge.
c. Creation of means of raising fund in many cases is part of the task of anyone who is in charge of the treasury. This responsibility entails guiding against wastages.
These assignments given to Judas Iscariot came manifest in these quotes :
"But one of His disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's son,... had the money box" John 12:4a, 6d.
"for some thought, because Judas had the money box, that Jesus had said to him,
" Buy those things we need for the feast, 'or that he should give something to the poor. " John 13:29.
" But one of His disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's son,... said,
"why was this fragrant oil not sold for three hundred denarii and
given to the poor?" John 12:4-5.
That was three of the work of Judas Iscariot.

Now what were his ways?

Each keeper of the treasury has his way of living, Judas Iscariot had his own. Let us examine three of this :
1. He was a thief who stole from the Ministry's money box. In the story of the anointing at Bethany, it was disclosed by Apostle John thus. In John 12:6,
"... not that he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief,
and had the bag, and bare what was put therein,".
2. It was his way of life to attempt disruption of God's better plan because he could not understand well the things of the spirit. His suggestion on the Mary's anointing of Jesus at Bethany and Jesus response
" Let her alone : against the day of my burying hath she
Kept this." John 12:7. negated this
"Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor? John 12:5.
3. Judas Iscariot always stands as an hypocrite. He never spoke his mind. He used to present himself as a" Godly " disciple but his words are opposite of his heart. On the anointing at Bethany, he covered the "thoughts of stealing in his heart with a "love for the poor." He was good at such a matter like this. Another case study was "covering betrayal with "a kiss". He then betrayed Jesus with a kiss. It was his way of life.

4. It was Judas Iscariot's way of life to "sell " anyone he chose to. He was ready to betray anyone to his enemies as long as he will be given something especially money. He appeared to serve God but ended serving mammon money comes first and last. To him, everything is money.
5. It was his way of life to reveal secrets. All disciples, especially the Apostles knew where Jesus goes to pray. It was Judas who revealed the place to the enemies of Jesus Christ. He led them there.
Are you in charge of money in any form? This is not abnormal. However, what are your ways? Your ways may erode all the benefits connected with the work that you are doing. Amend your way(s)!
Stay blessed and rapturable because the Lord is coming soon for what ought to be done. Funds must be available as at when needed : to buy things, execute projects and many others. There should be no reason for lack of fund kept in their charge.
