A Deliverer
by Stacey Thaeler

At the brink of the river
Where the flags grow thick
An ark of bulrushes lay

Held together with slime
It concealed God's plan
Revealed in His perfect time

Far away stood sister
Ready to defend
This crying baby boy

Compassion flowed
From the princess' heart
As fear rose up in her own

The baby cried
His sister spoke
The princess gave a command

Go!

This baby must not die
This Hebrew will survive

In an old dusty manger
Where the hay lay thick
The infant Jesus slept

Bound in swaddling clothes
He concealed God's plan
Revealed in His perfect time

Far away stood shepherds
Ready to proclaim
The birth of God's own Son

Wonderment rose
From deep in Joseph's heart
As love flowed in Mary's own

The baby cried
His Father spoke
The angel gave a command

Go!

Unto you is born a Savior
Which is Christ the Lord
