Are You Happy?
by Olawale Ogunsola

March 20 every year has been chosen world-wide to be observed as Happiness Day. One thing commonly connected with this one is the Happiness rating of countries of the world. For 2016, Denmark has been rated as number one happiest country in the world. Others follow.

Do you know that celebrating a day like this had not just begun? About Jews, it is written, "The remainder of the Jews in the Kings provinces gathered together
and protected their lives, had rest from their enemies, and killed seventy - five
thousand of their enemies :..
This was on the thirteenth day of the month of Adar. And on the fourteenth
Of the month they rested and made it a day of feasting and gladness.
Therefore the Jews of the villages who dwelt in the unwalled towns
celebrated the fourteenth day of the month of Adar with gladness and
feasting,... " Esther 9:17,19,22.
As in the case of the Jews, they had a reason to be happy and to celebrate it, death was turned into life; and mourning was rolled away from their territory.

Happiness rating of each country cannot be divorced from happening in that particular country. What makes people of a nation happy is always different from what makes those of another country happy. Yet irrespective of its cause, happiness is happiness.

Do you ever think of this: in any country that is rated number one on the Happiness list, there cannot be wanted a citizen who is unhappy on that day or year. Ditto in the country named as the last on the list, there cannot be but certain citizens who are at the peak of their own happiness.
Now irrespective of your county's rating in happiness, the question now is "Are you happy?" Do you want to be happy?

Register this into your heart forever : To be happy is a choice you can make.

A little girl In her elementary school who beamed with smiles was asked by her father "Why are you always happy?"
The little girl answered, "I choose to be happy!"
"What are the things that make you happy?"
The man probed further.
"My parents, sisters, brothers, teachers in my school, my friends, everything!" She concluded.
The man then concluded to choose happiness each day of his life.
Do you know that to be continuously happy has to do with
(1) whom you worship and
(2) the way you see things?

1. Whom do you worship? This is a choice you must make. To worship the creator or the creature. The Creator has every power to provide all that you need to make you happy without ceasing. In the words of the Psalmist,
"You (God, the creator) open your hand.
And satisfy the desire of every living thing." Psalm 145:16 NKJV.
You are still a living being, let your creator open His hand to satisfy your desires, worship Him alone.

To do otherwise is choosing foolishness. Why? Psalmist says,
"The idols (creatures) are silver and gold,
The work of men's hands.
They have mouths, but they do not speak,...
Those who make them are like them." Psalmist 115:4-5,8 NKJV

Worship and trust the Lord!

2. This takes us to reason two. How do you see things? Positively or negatively? A full bottle of water that fell down to empty its contents. to its middle, can be said to be half-empty or half-full. If you are on the Lord s side, you will view things from different prospective. You will be able to derive happiness, with the power of the Lord, from every happening.
Do you want to be happy? Do you want to be so without ceasing? The choice is strictly yours!
Stay blessed and rapturable because the Lord is coming soon.
