Honor Her Too She Has A Mother's Heart
by Tesse Wilson

In memory of Mrs. Bernice Figaro

Her womb did not bear fruit
Her breasts did not give suck
Yet her arms cradled many
Her hands hugged and comforted many lovingly
She dried many tears
She carried her children in the womb of her heart
Her labor pains were travailing prayer, ingratitude shown to her, being misunderstood, being told you are not my mother, giving of her limited resources sacrificially

Do you know a woman like her?
A woman of virtue caring for children who are not her own
She cares willingly, lovingly, tenderly
Let's honor her for she choose to become a mother
To those without a mother
Let's honor her
She choose to become a nurturer
To those who need to be nurtured

She is known for her good advice and gentle correction
Humble and fair-minded, she would offer an apology when she makes mistakes
Her eyes reveal the love and concern she has in her soul for others
Those in her care who may have experienced neglect and abuse
She adopts a more understanding and empathizing approach
She may have never read a book about such things
Her heart knows how to cultivate
Her heart knows how to be a mother

Her mother's heart seeks out others;
To embrace
To encourage
To inspire
To cherish
To give them the experience of knowing, having a loving mother
To raise them up with God's help to be all that they can be

Good woman, stewardess of God
You will always be remembered not only as a guardian or caretaker but a Mother

Some may need to reconsider how they define a mother
Being called a mother has to be more than giving birth
Being a mother means you nurture
Let us always honor those well deserving mothers who have never given birth
Always remember her
Remember her favorite song, the one she loved/loves to sing or hum
Remember her favorite color
Remember her, Honor her
