Almost Home
by PamFord Davis

It has been nearly 49 years since I married and moved out of New York State. At times, it was difficult living so far away from my parents; especially after the births of our two children and during the holidays.

My husband understood; he arranged for frequent visits at Christmastime. We packed our bags and pointed our car towards Syracuse, New York.

My excitement heightened once we reached the New York State Thruway. It was senseless to try to contain that excitement. Counting down the miles to Syracuse, I read road signs with names of familiar towns and their exit numbers. I was almost home.

I now anticipate my heavenly home. The signs of the times mark the road. Jesus explained the significance

"And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men's hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near (Luke 21:25-28 NKJV)."

Christ will escort His Father's children home!
