A Better Side Of Samson
by Olawale Ogunsola

Sin is the worst enemy of mankind, and every Follower of Jesus Christ must be aware of this so that he can stay away from any form of evil act. Sin sinks sinners. That is the truth of life.

This is a strong reason many disciples of Jesus Christ nowadays find it extremely difficult to accept Samson as a servant of God. An examination of his lifestyle teaches a lot about morality. There are lots of lessons to learn from him. There are red signals to destruction from waywardness in his life.

A man of God was analyzing Samson's way of life in a crusade calling him a fornicator many times in his message. This was about more than three decades ago. Suddenly, according to him, a voice came saying,
"My servant, never call Samson a fornication again. Don't you study the Scriptures very well? Judges 14:4 states,
" But his father and mother did not know that it was from the Lord, that He was seeking an occasion to move against the Philippines. For at that time the Philistines had dominion over Israel." "

Since that time, I have always been very careful of what to think, say or do to any man of God. I think every Follower of Jesus Christ must watch. May we always see with God's eyes. The life of Samsom is not associated with immorality alone but he has a better side.

When Apostle Paul was examining the lives of men of God in the Hall of Faith in Hebrews 11, he did not forget the name of Samson and Jephthah,
"... who through faith subdued Kingdoms, worked righteousness,, obtained promises, stopped the mouth of lions...out of weakness were made strong, became valiant in battle, turned to flight the army of aliens." Hebrews 11:1,32-33
Apostle Paul recognized Samson as one of those valiant men of God who worked righteousness. He appreciated the faith and power of God in his life. It was through his faith in God of Israel and His power that he subdued the enemies of God's people.

Samson's conquest are in two parts.. The first is in his lifetime and the second is in his death.

In his lifetime, he was able to destroy many of the Philistines who reigned over the people of God, Israel. For instance, when he was engaged to a Philistine lady, he posed a riddle which was explained by the enemies of God.. He got the promised gifts by killing thirty Philistines and gave it to his companions who explained his riddle.

At his death, the Holy Bible reveals,
"So the dead that he killed at his death were more than he had killed in his life." Judges 16:30.

To appreciate Samson as a great man of war for the Lord,, three things must be considered.

1. He was alone on the battlefield for the Lord. He could not contact "fellow soldiers" because he had none. He was fighting a lone battle. No one but God of Israel was with him. No one to warn or encourage him. He acted only as he was moved by the Spirit of the Lord.

2. He was readily available for use in the hand of God. He was where He wanted to use him, when He wanted to and how He wanted to use him. One may think he could be used in other ways but his unique ministry called for a unique approach and he made himself available without anyone to assist.

3. Close to number one above,, we do not read about a group of prayer warriors who chose to help him in his battles with the enemies of God.. It is even sad that people he fought for did not support him because they preferred serving their enemies in silence. They were ready to make Samson available to his enemies
. You can read an example in Judges 15:9-15.

Samson may have his weakness but the Lord was able to use him for His glory in His own way. This is not a license or an encouraging piece to be involved in promiscuity, it is detrimental to your life. Let the Lord use you the way He wants to. Run away from sin and you will radiate the glory of God forever.
Stay blessed and rapturable because the Lord is coming soon.
