How To Be The Greatest
by Dinora Garza

Isn't it strange Jesus didn't prohibit us from comparing ourselves to others? He seems to have left untouched this relentless habit we have that makes us either more vain or more bitter, depending on if the person in question is better or worse than us.

Maybe the reason why He didn't forbid it is because He gave us a new commandment: "To love one another."

The Lord gave us the cure before we discovered our malady! Loving others is the perfect antidote against envy, resentment, and hatred that results from comparisons.

The one who loves has no time to compare himself to others, to resent them, or condemn them. He has no desire to measure against them in greatness, ability, or beauty, and it is only logical! He who loves, who really loves others, is too busy serving them, helping them, and seeking their welfare...

Jesus called them to Himself and said, "You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great men exercise authority over them. It is not this way among you, but whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant" (Matthew 20: 25-26)
