I am Alpha and Omega
by Greg Robbins

Revelation 1:10-11 "I was in the spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet, saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What you see, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea."

On the Lord's day, are you in the Spirit, or in the flesh? It isn't just enough to attend a church or Bible Study. Preparation needs to be made before attending, to get into contact with the Lord, and in the Spirit. The average person who goes to church is preoccupied with natural things. We think that it is the job of the pastor or minister to prepare and to be in the Spirit, before getting up to speak. Now that is a good thing and even a necessary thing. But what about the listeners? Are they prepared to receive the message? Have they spent time in prayer, Bible study, and worship, so that they are in the Spirit and capable of receiving spiritual food when it is dished out? I notice things. I travel around a lot and have attended many churches in my travels. I notice that when I enter a church that all the people are talking about natural things. When the music starts it is like flipping a light switch, and all the people suddenly become spiritual. As soon as the service ends, the switch is again thrown, and all the people once again speak of natural things. It is sadly very rare to hear people talking about spiritual things at church. And if it is that way at church, What is it like during the rest of the week? We have been called, invited to fellowship with the Lord at all times. Yet how many of us are like the Laodicians? Revelation 3:20 "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: If any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me." Jesus stands at the door of your heart and knocks. Do you hear his voice? Have you opened the door to let him in? If you have, then there will be a continual inner communion and fellowship with the Lord. The problem with so many people is that Jesus knocks at the door of their heart, but they leave him outside waiting.

Is Jesus your Alpha and Omega? Is Jesus the first and the last word for you? Do you live your life obeying the teachings and commands of Jesus Christ? or do you live according to your own will and desires? These are such important questions to ask yourself. Your eternal well being depends upon it.

Luke 6:46 "And why do you call me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?"

John 15:14 "You are my friends, if you do whatsoever I command you."
