The Easy Life
by Greg Robbins

Imagine for just a minute what your life would be like if you actually obeyed what Jesus said about discipleship. That thought used to bring terror and fear into my thoughts. To actually give up EVERYTHING to follow Jesus? To take up my cross, which obviously denotes suffering and pain, to daily carry it in Jesus' service? Put in that way, truthfully, who would do it? It sounds awful, and besides, who else do I know who has done it?

I was faced with the very same thoughts about eight years ago, and I did it anyway. Do I mean to say that I gave away everything that I owned, left my home, family, and friends, to live by faith and prayer as Jesus said to do? Yes. I do mean that, and I actually did it. So now you know of someone who actually did it.

This article is to pass on to you what the end result of doing this is. Interested? Then keep on reading, this won't be a long article. I can tell you now what I didn't know before. I didn't know before that what Jesus said is true. He said that his yoke is easy and his burden is light. It is indeed.

I have learned a totally new and different lifestyle. I no longer worry about anything. I have learned to be content with little, and what I now have is all mine worry free. I don't have the pressure of large monthly bills, of thieves stealing what I have, or of having to answer to an employer. My time is freed up to pursue what is the most rewarding of all, that is to serve God full time.

I now am very busy, perhaps more busy than before. I help my elderly parents by doing their yard work and other jobs around their home. Jesus told us to, "Honor your father and your mother." I feed 40-50 needy people. As a result, I eat very well and I also provide food to my parents.

I am pursuing a life-long passion for writing. I now have the time to spend eight hours a day doing it. I publish on my web pages, Faith Writers, and Face book. There is meaning to my life now. What I do now has eternal meaning as well as rewards in heaven. I know a deep satisfaction and peace, as well as an abiding joy that was missing before.

Jesus promised a hundred fold return in this lifetime to those who left and gave up everything. I'm in no hurry to get my hundred fold return, but I know that it is coming. Having lived by prayer and faith all these years, I don't fear the future. I already know what it is to have to literally trust Father to provide my daily bread. Another great depression? I'm not worried, for I know now how to live the faith life.

Best of all I have another evidence to base my faith in eternal salvation on. Jesus promised eternal life to those who gave up everything to follow him. I also now walk with the Lord in a very sweet and personal way, far surpassing anything that I knew before.

So having done what Jesus said to do, and experiencing it first hand, I can wholeheartedly tell you that His yoke truly is, both easy and light.
