Picture Yourself
by Steve Countryman

Typically how you picture yourself is less than how others see you. We are more critical and harder on ourselves than anyone else because we have to live with ourselves all the time. We also know our limitations. Putting that with the laws of nature is where we live. We measure everything by those limits. "Seeing is believing" means if I can't see it then it isn't real.

But that's not where the God that we serve lives! God lives and operates in ALL dimensions including the natural and the supernatural in ALL timelines at the same time. Now that's not an easy statement to wrap your mind around. But because we live in the natural it is easier to limit ALL things to our own understanding regardless how limited it is. So we treat and limit how, where, when, why and who God works.

The truth is that by limiting God we limit ourselves. That limits God's ability and availability to do the miraculous, the impossible, the outstanding, the remarkable and the great in us, to us, with us, for us and through us. All because we don't picture ourselves correctly!

Most of us have heard the phrase "who you are in Christ Jesus and who Christ Jesus is in you". But once you start to consider what ALL that entails it becomes difficult to wrap your mind around it too. I know because I struggle with it daily. Just as your salvation takes faith in God and in His Son Jesus trying to understand how to picture yourself also takes faith. Faith that the same God who created the heavens and the earth lives in you. Faith that the God who formed and created you in your mother's womb lives in you. Faith that the God who chose you before time began lives in you.

God lives in you through Jesus in you through the Holy Spirit in you. ALL power and authority, ALL the resources of heaven, ALL victory, ALL blessings, ALL spiritual giftings and blessings are in you NOW! Yes, not only is that mind blowing and powerful but you probably didn't realize it or don't know how to activate it.

It does start with how you picture yourself. You have to see yourself as God sees you or more accurately how God sees Jesus in you. It is all dependent on your ability to do so. Of course Satan wants to keep your vision and your understanding limited so that YOU will be limited!

Think of God as the perfect artist and you are His blank canvas. How you are painted is based on how much freedom you allow God to paint you as He wishes. The colors, the background, your surroundings, the foreground, the shadows and the textures are all taken into consideration. But the full potential of your picture is totally limited to your faith and understanding.

Understanding comes from time spent in prayer and in His word to know God's love and will for your life. Just as a real work of art isn't complete until it is framed to compliment it so God finishes your picture as He "FRAMES" you in His Word! Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Now knowing who lives and dwells in you step it up I will do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me. You're not done yet I DO ALL THINGS through Christ who strengthens me! Now you have pictured yourself correctly as a child of the Most High God!
