NOTES AND CARDS
by Lewis E. Thomas

I listened to a man on FAITH Radio talk about his dear Mother having passed away.
My heart was touched by things he had to say!

He said he tried to visit his Mom as much as he could!
But was hindered by demands of his own family and felt he had failed at doing what he should!

He talked about how he sent his Mom loving notes and cards from time to time.
I am moved by the thought of it as I write this rhyme!

After her death he discovered a drawer in the home where his mother had resided.
The place he grew up where all his needs had been provided!

This DRAWER was a treasure chest of all his notes and cards that his Mother had saved over the years!
He read them all "one by one" as down his face ran the tears!

Those Cards and Notes of love were "dear" to his Mom and to her worth more than gold!
That Drawer of Notes and Cards made him weep and touched his soul!

Notes and Cards, how many "have you mailed out if I should be so bold?
To some they become much more valuable than diamonds or gold!

If you don't have the time to visit when you would, remember this little rhyme!
And send them a Note or a Card of love because, not to would be a serious crime!

Mail out those Notes or Cards which turn into "priceless pearls"!
They have the "power" to lift up another and deeply touch their world!

Is there a Drawer out there that is holding any Treasures from you?
Or is that drawer empty and forgotten and making someone feel blue?
