“Not Under The Law” – What it Means

The laws of the Roman Empire in Peter’s day included paying taxes or coming under condemnation. The only ones exempt from the law were the king’s family and any he might designate exempt. In the above verses, Jesus is pointing out that in God’s kingdom as a member of God’s family, we are not subject tothe law as a non-family member would be.

“You Christians, Muslims and Jews and many others all think you are right. Insisting you are right and others are wrong is what leads to all of the wars and killing we see. Let’s just let everyone believe what they want and we will have peace. Everyone’s belief is just as valid as the next guy.”
