Not Crossing My Fingers
by PamFord Davis

It’s Friday. It’s the 13th and I’m not crossing my fingers.

You won’t catch me knocking on wood either.

I don’t believe in bad luck; for that matter, I don’t believe in good luck either. The Lord watches over me.

“What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us (Romans 8:31 NKJV).”

What will I say?

I’ll say that this will be a great day!

Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed,
Because His compassions fail not.

They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness (Lamentations 3:22-23 NKJV).”

Does the last line sound familiar?

Most church goers will remember the classic hymn, ‘Great is Thy Faithfulness.’

Yes, God is faithful. He has promised His protection.

Will I hide a rabbit’s foot in my pocket or hang a horseshoe above the front door?

No, because I have hidden God’s word in my heart.

“The Lord shall preserve you from all evil;
He shall preserve your soul.
The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in
From this time forth, and even forevermore (Psalm 121:7-8 NKJV).”

Forever and more…
