In His Arms
by PamFord Davis

The little girl loves her daddy.

“For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father (Romans 8:15 NKJV).”

She snuggled in his strong arms.

“And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, ‘Abba, Father (Galatians 4:6 NKJV)!”

My husband and I stood in our church pew. Along with others in the congregation, we raised our voices in praise and thanksgiving to the LORD. I observed a father and his young daughter a couple of rows ahead of us. He stood, holding the child in his arms.

Clinging to his body, she rested her head on his shoulder. Playfully at times, she swung her feet. The scene was serene; the daughter rested securely in protective arms. Contented, she lavished love upon her father.

Father God, I run into the shelter of your arms.

“The eternal God is your refuge,
And underneath are the everlasting arms (Deuteronomy 33:27 NKJV).”

The child didn’t have a care in the world; her daddy was taking care of her.

The Father cares for me; He cares for you too.

“Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you (1 Peter 5:6-7 NKJV).”
