Hands Up
by PamFord Davis

‘Come out with your hands up. You’re surrounded.’

Gotcha; you think criminals are being captured by the law, right?

You’re not even warm…

“Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God (Hebrews 12:1-3 NKJV).”

Note the first word of ‘Therefore.’ I’ve heard that the word should lead us back to read what preceded the word. In this case, it is Hebrews Chapter 11, recognition of the heroes of our faith. They gather to surround Christ followers as a cloud of witnesses. They will spur us on to victory in Jesus. Around the globe, multitudes raise their hands in praise to the LORD!

“Lift up your hands in the sanctuary,
And bless the Lord (Psalm 134:2 NKJV).”

Yes, worshipers raise hands high.

“I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting (1Timothy 2:8 NKJV).”

Hands up, you’re surrounded!
