Going to the Source
by PamFord Davis

I’m a country girl. In the summertime, I had easy access to fresh fruit in rural Mycenae, New York.

I picked Bartlett pears or McIntosh apples from our backyard and relished the treat of plumbs from my best friend Carol’s yard. I had my fill of wild blackcap berries by the crick. On occasion, I sampled fresh raspberries or strawberries from a neighbors patch.

Though the luscious fruit was in several different locations, I knew where it was and availed myself to nutritious snacks.

Where do I find the source of spiritual fruit?

The fruit of the Spirit comes from the Holy Spirit; He dwells within all Christ followers.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, self-control. Against such things there is no law. Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, we must also follow the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-25 HCSB).”

He leads; will I follow?

The Holy Spirit wants me to bear fruit.

I must abide in the vine.

“I am the vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in Me and I in him produces much fruit, because you can do nothing without Me (John 15:5 HCSB).”
