Follow your heart?
by Jerry Smith

The WORLD says:

"Follow your heart and let God lead you."

(1) On the surface, it sounds good. It always does, but be careful:

Proverbs 28:26, "He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered" (KJV).

(2) We have to distinguish between what GOD tells us (which leads to life) and what the world tells us (which leads to death).

John 6:63, "It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life" (KJV).

(3) If we are going to walk in Christ, we must always compare what the world tells us, with what the Word of God tells us.

2 Timothy 4:3-4, "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth..." (KJV).

Titus 1:9, "Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers" (KJV).

Titus 2:1, "But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine..." (KJV).

(4) We can help avoid deception by staying in God's Word.
