Not a Pest

“Keep asking, and it will be given to you. Keep searching, and you will find. Keep knocking, and the door will be opened to you (Matthew 7:7 HCSB).”

You’re not pestering God. He wants us to pray; be persistent.

Several decades, ago our family traveled cross country on a road trip. Along the way, we made stops for pre-arranged overnight stays at homes of family and friends. Having recently purchased a used 8 mm movie camera and projector, my husband had the camera bug.

No dialogue in that era. People smiled, waved and acted silly. We didn’t get our names up in lights. We did see our images projected on living room walls. Our first screening of the trip was in the mile high city, Denver. My sister and her family lived there as well as our only brother.

The home movies killed some time and brought a few laughs. The most memorable filming occurred as we prepared to leave. It was staged. Did the director yell ‘Action?’ I don’t recall.

The stars were our daughter April, my sister, her husband, their 3 children and my brother. They waited inside their condo for the cue. It started with April outside getting ready to knock on their door…

They were to open the door and pop their heads out and wave goodbye. (I think we got the idea from the Ozzie & Harriet TV program). Sounds simple enough, right?

Well, April had to knock repeatedly. She grew frustrated as she wondered why they didn’t open the door. Finally, the door was opened to her. We caught it all on film. Persistence paid off. In this case, she also got a chuckle; we all did. My sister was wearing a mask!
