GOD-TRACKING IS MAKING THE MOST OF THE JOURNEY
by Dudley Anderson GodTracker 628 19 May 2017 Dear God-tracker GOD-TRACKING IS MAKING THE MOST OF THE JOURNEY Proverbs 16:1 I often talk about the A to Z of Christian living. That is, how, on the track of life, God seldom takes us from point A to B to C and then to point D. More often than not he guides our path from A to B to C and then off to X and Y. But, before we make it to point Z we find ourselves back on the track to point D. I’ve experienced this phenomenon in my life, many times, and wondered why God allows this. Over time I have found that what really matters in the trek of life, is not the destination of the journey, but rather the journey itself. It’s on the journey that God works out all things for our good. Jeremiah was God’s prophet at the time of the Babylonian conquest of Judah and the subsequent captivity. He prophesied to a rebellious people that they would suffer the wrath of God. As a result, he was severely abused and ostracised. Jeremiah cried out to God, “Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why do all who are treacherous thrive?” On his track of life, old Jerry found himself delayed and dejected. Indeed, it took la lifetime before he saw the fulfilment of his calling as a prophet. In his reply to Jeremiah’s complaint, God said, “If you have raced with men on foot, and they have wearied you, how will you compete with horses?” You may have questions for God like Jeremiah had. You may have hopes and dreams that seem to keep being delayed. You may find yourself on a detour today, but be encouraged to enjoy the journey, as you seek to track the plans and purposes of God. God does have a plan for you; a plan for a future filled with hope and wellbeing. However, God’s plan is not a destination, it’s a journey. On this journey, as you seek God, you will grow in faith and patience. On this journey, as you seek God, you will be impacted by people and impact others, likewise. In fact, even the very seeking of the plans of God fulfills his purpose for you, because all things work together for the good of those who are called according to his purpose. You see, it’s in the process of running life’s detours where God will develop in you the strength and stamina to run with horses.
