Put God First
by lareina morgan

It is never easy to surrender your will to someone else. We all have had to do it from time to time; we have to obey the leader, the person who has the most authority in any situation, and their authority was given to them by someone who determined that this person was capable to lead everyone else. This type of authority is temporary, and even the kings and the queens of the world will find that their authority is recognized as long as the people that they are ruling are willing to be ruled by them.

When God asks you to put Him first in your life, it is because He is an all knowing, all powerful God, who has your best interest at heart. He knows who you are and what you will need to survive in this world, and His wisdom is far superior than any 'wise' guru or counselor could ever be. You have to trust Him and give your heart to Him, and He will prove that you will never be disappointed that you made that decision.

Proverbs Chapter 3 vs 6

In everything you do, put God first, and he will direct you and crown your efforts with success

Why live in darkness and confusion when you can step into the light and find peace, joy, and victory? The path to love and happiness is a narrow one, and you will not be able to find it without consenting to live with His guidance and His providence. Is it easy to live for the Lord instead of for yourself? It can be tricky surrending your heart to Him while fighting your own selfish impulses; that is why the Holy Spirit comes to live in our hearts when we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. We need His power and influence in or lives to help us to live righteously, according to God's standards of living.

If you believe in Jesus Christ and you have accepted Him as your Lord and Savior, you have this power within your heart; if you are having trouble living the life that God requires of all of His children, you may have to review your own life and the choices that you have made since confessing your faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Come to Him by prayer with the intent to surrender your will to His; this is a conscious decision that must be made by you. The Lord will not force you to obey Him. He is looking for people who are willing to listen to him and trust His plans for their lives.

Ask the Lord to guide you through His word, and by the power of the Holy Spirit, and ask Him to lead you to people who are totally invested in Jesus Christ; their example will guide you into how to walk this life with God as your leader and your guide. when you live for Him and not for yourself, you will find freedom and rest at His altar, and joy and happiness is the result!
