ARE YOU LOOKING?
by Lewis E. Thomas

 "ARE YOU LOOKING"?

"Are you looking" every day for someone you can bless?
Are you looking for those kind of "opportunities" with a holy zest?

Are you armed with kind words that will "lift" a soul who is down?
Are your motives "selfish" or are they biblically sound?

Do you ask God daily to "lead you" to someone in great need?
The person who asks God to lead them is becoming a "rare breed"!

"Are you looking" through spiritually open or closed eyes?
Have you asked God to give you His wisdom to make you wise?

"Are you looking" with eyes that can spiritually see?
"Are you looking" for every opportunity to help set the captive free?

"Are you looking" North, South, East, and West?
There are multitudes in every direction that you can bless!

"Are you looking" at the lost around you the way God looked at you?
When Jesus died on The Cross to save and make you new?

"Are you looking" for an opportunity to be the "answer" to someone's prayer?
"That" always brings a blessing that is beyond compare!

"Are you looking" for ways to please God, The Holy Spirit, and The Son?
"Then make it your mission daily to be a "BLESSING" to someone!"

"What a different world it would suddenly become tomorrow!"
"If every Christian reached out to the lost and to those suffering in pain and sorrow!"

"ARE YOU LOOKING"!

** This poem dedicated to Dave Payton Davidson **

Payton Davidson is my cousin. He shared the following story with me.

Payton writes:

The tongue is a two edge sword but when powered by the word couldn't it do good rather than evil? I had a guy yesterday at the gas station come up to me, owned a nice car clean-cut and could tell that he was on no drugs. He was discouraged and the fact that he had to speak to me and asked for help and explain that he was no drug attic or alcoholic but proceeded to tell me that he was in a dilemma and had a pair of very nice Justin boots not very old on his hood. He asked me if he could have $30 for them and would give up this $250 pair of boots. He was just a little younger than myself VERY NICE BOOTS THAT WOULD FIT ME like maybe he had lost his wallet at the creek and just needed fuel standing there in his wet swim trunks.I said son I don't know what you're going through right now but God loves you and we're supposed to take care of each other and I don't need your boots but here's the cash I have. When I said this to him, the look on his face and the big bull frog in his throat as he swallowed and got choked up was worth every penny. He teared up and when he said thank you under his breath holding back tears, he choked up and I could tell that he was shocked and didn't know how to act when he accepted. I told him God loves him and has a plan for him and that God is there for him all he has to do is ask. Now I don't know what this did for him or what he needed but it blessed me because I could tell he had never been blessed like that before receiving something for nothing. He blessed me more than I could've ever blessed him with the speechlessness and shock. God is good!
