GOD-TRACKING IS CLIMBING THOSE MOUNTAINS IN FAITH THAT GOD WILL PROVIDE

Psalm 34:10
The young lions suffer want and hunger; but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing.

When I was a teenager I used to sing a song written by Andre Crouch, whose chorus line goes: “Jesus is the answer for the world today, above him there’s no other, Jesus is the way.” It’s a great old gospel number that impacted my life at the time. For some reason, this song came to mind again this week. The old voice is a little shaky but I gave it a try. Coming to the second verse I paused: “I know you got some mountains that you think you cannot climb.”

Abraham was very old and frail. Warily, he laboured up the mountain, as stabs of pain gripped his aged joints. His promised son, Isaac perhaps 10 to 12-years old, sprang youthfully from rock to rock as they climbed higher. Obediently the man of faith had set out to follow God’s command to offer his only son as a sacrifice to him. I could imagine, to old Abe, that mountain must have seemed the highest and most gruelling mountain he’d ever climbed.

Sobbing and lumbering the old man drags himself to the summit of his mountain. With tear streaked cheeks, Abraham prepares the alter and binds his son. The boy might have been screaming and writhing to escape the old man’s grip as his father lifted him onto the wood. Raising a frail arm, Abraham prepares to thrust a knife deep into his promised son. Just then: “Abraham, Abraham! Do not lay your hand on the boy or do anything to him, for now I know that you fear God.” An angel’s voice. Looking up, Abraham sees a ram caught in a bush. Tears of relief and joy now as he unbinds his son. “This place shall be called, ‘The LORD will provide,’” said Abraham. And so, it is said, “On the mount of the LORD it shall be provided.”

I know you’ve got some mountains that you think you cannot climb. But, like Abraham, I know too, that God has not abandoned you. His Word is true and he will fulfil all that he has promised. Sometimes God calls us to climb high mountains but, as Rees Howells wrote in his book, Intercessor, “Deliverance is always found on the mount; living faith must first prove to God that it has taken his word and promise for victory.” Jesus is your answer. Above him there’s no other.

God-tracking is climbing those mountains in faith that God will provide.

DON’T GIVE UP, LOOK UP & PRAY

Dear Lord, I know that at the top of this climb have already provided my need

“Dear God, it seems like I am climbing a high rocky mountain at the moment, with steep cliffs on both sides of the path. I feel as though, if I put one foot wrong, I’m going to fall. But, I know you are with me. These needs seem overwhelming but I know you are my provider. Help me to obey you and be ready to make the sacrifices you ask for. Help me to be strong and climb in faith. Dear Lord, I know that at the top of this climb have already provided my need. Jesus, you’re the answer; you’re the way and above you there’s no other. Amen.”

What is GodTracker?
GodTracker is a weekly e-mail devotional based on the premise that God has a plan for our lives. His word calls us to seek his will by acknowledging him in all our ways and tracking this plans in faith.

GodTracker owes its origins to an international Christian radio programme produced by Dudley Anderson called, On Track. Although On Track went off-air in 2005, GodTracker has continued to help people track God's plans and purposes for their lives since July 2003.
