O Lord, Wean Me!
by Olawale Ogunsola

O Lord, wean me!

O Lord, wean me now,

From the spirit of pride.

Why must I be proud?

Wean me Lord,

Before it becomes

   too late

From the spirit of pride,

Do I have Power?

Is it absolute?

Lord, wean me now!

It is on record

   in your Word,

 that All authority

   has been given

 You in heaven

and on earth. (Matthew 28:18)

You are not proud.

Lord, wean me now!

Do I occupy a position?

Can I receive it, if it

  had not come from heaven?

Lord, wean mw now!

Do I have wealth or

   riches?

Is it by my might or

   power?

Wean me, o Lord,

You possess the earth

   and all its fullness,

The world and those who

   dwell therein.

Wean me, o Lord!

The Proud rich man

   ended in hell

Lazarus, the poor but

humble in paradise,

Help me Lord.

Am I too old to serve the

    young ones in my generation?

Am I too Big to do

“Little and filthy jobs” for You?”

Wean  me Lord!

Does a veil cover my pride,

To accuse others of arrogance

When a cankerworm of pride

had eaten deep into my bones

   and marrow?

Wean me o, Lord

Help me to turn a search light into

   my heart,

To know and uproot that hidden

   root of pride.

Wean me, o Lord!

Before it’s too late

Because it may soon be late

In that you will come soon,

Do not meet me  in such a state!

Lord, wean me now!

Help me Lord,

Let me not replace

   You with myself in

   The lives of people

Let me not replace You

   with people in my life.

 NOTE

The Lord is coming soon.
