Extraordinary Ordinary Life
by Sheriena McEvers

Most of our lives are very ordinary, don’t you think? Even the well-known personalities have ordinary lives. Doing common activities like eating, cleaning house, shopping, going to work, getting our vehicle fixed, raising children, etc. I think you get my point. We live very ordinary lives.

What we may not understand is God wants to flow through our ordinary lives with His power transforming the ordinary into extraordinary. Our life of faith is not to be separate from our daily lives. It flavors and infuses our lives.

Let me give you an example of what I mean. What is the difference between a push mower and a riding mower? You do the work of moving the push mower, right? Now, what about the riding mower. All you have to do is sit on it, push the gas pedal, and it goes all by itself. The one is powered by you. The other is powered by gas.

So is the Christian life. Many try to live the Christian life by their own power. That can be very hard. Christ wants to empower us with his life, touching us with His supernatural life. The life that spoke the worlds into existence.

If we have been born again, his life (his essence) is in us empowering us to live extraordinary ordinary lives. So let’s look to God to empower us to shine for him every day, hour, and minute while we are doing the dishes, going to work, helping our children with their homework or buying groceries.

Father, your Son said he came to give us life abundantly. More than enough. A close relationship with you. Your touch on our lives and your Spirit living in us will make each ordinary day extraordinary.

Just began writing about 5-6 year ago. I didn't know what to do with my writings. My older son suggested that I blog. After much thought and prayer, I began blogging summer of 2012. Just an update-I now have two sites. Currently looking to publish a Bible study workbook.
