Price Per Gallon (Part 2)
by Lynn Jacobs

The price per gallon you see displayed at the gas pump says that it includes all taxes. When you go in and pay the clerk, there are no hidden charges or additional taxes. After you've filled up your gas tank and paid the total amount shown, you're done. You don't owe anything else for that full tank.

When Jesus died on the cross for us, He paid the full price for our salvation. All we need to do is to accept Him as our savior and allow Him to come in and fill our hearts. There are no hidden fees or taxes to pay, no good works that must be done first to earn our salvation. He paid the tab for usit's done. The full price was paid at the pump.

Jesus poured out His blood for us on the cross, and that was all that was necessary for our salvation. Many people feel they must improve themselves before they can come to Christ, or they must do certain things to win His favor before He will save them. But Jesus doesn't operate that way. He paid the price for our salvation so we could come freely to Him. Now, that doesn't take away from our responsibility of obeying and serving Him once we do become His, but all of that will come after the free gift of salvation. Our salvation comes as a gift of God's grace in response to our faith. Faith is the only condition to receiving grace. Just as we must reach out and pick up the gasoline nozzle and insert it into the gas tank, we must in faith reach out to Jesus and pull Him into our hearts.

If you haven't fully grasped this and are still trying to earn His love, get alone with Him today and let Him remind you that what He did for you was sufficient. You don't have to work your way in to His heartyou're already there. You don't have to earn eternal life if you've sought after Him wholeheartedlyyou already have it. He paid for it. Now you just need to receive it.
