Greater Treasures
by PamFord Davis

It seems I spend a great deal of time hunting for things I’ve misplaced. I’d much rather use valuable time hunting for bargains. Treasures are not only buried at sea; they’re clearly visible at yard sales, thrift stores and antique/flea market stores. You say you don’t have a treasure map? No problem, your GPS will do nicely.

Greater treasures are found within the scriptures…

“My son, if you receive my words,
And treasure my commands within you,
So that you incline your ear to wisdom,
And apply your heart to understanding;
Yes, if you cry out for discernment,
And lift up your voice for understanding,
If you seek her as silver,
And search for her as for hidden treasures;
Then you will understand the fear of the Lord,
And find the knowledge of God.
For the Lord gives wisdom;
From His mouth come knowledge and understanding;

He stores up sound wisdom for the upright;
He is a shield to those who walk uprightly (Proverbs 2:1-7 NKJV).”

Who are those who walk uprightly?

They are people of faith. Though the foolish consider God’s word to be irrelevant; the wise meditate upon God’s word, hiding the treasure in the storehouse of their hearts.

“Your word I have hidden in my heart,
That I might not sin against You (Psalm 119:11 NKJV).”
