I AM PROFANITY!
by Lewis E. Thomas

I AM PROFANITY!

I entered the room in a stunning evening gown
Carried by the most beautiful woman in town!

I watched heads turn from every direction
As the men were awed by her curves and perfection!

I quickly melted her great beauty away!
When I was mingled with what she had to say!

As my vileness issued forth from her perfect lips
I blacked out her beauty like a solar eclipse!

As I issued forth from behind those pearl white teeth
I revealed what was in her evil heart beneath!

I hide in every mouth in every land!
I reside with the poor and with the rich and grand!

I often destroy the innocence of the child!
As I sting their ears with things perverse and vile!

I am a cancer that grows on the spoken word!
Without God I proceed forth undeterred!

I sit lurking behind every tongue!
I am found with the old and with the young!

I defile the priest, the saint and the prophet of God!
I can taint your Christian witness and reputation on that path you trod!

I am a plague upon all humanity!
I am known as: PROFANITY!

Note:

I have seen over the years that folks have selective or partially controlled profanity.
If they are inside the Church their mouth remains clean.
Or if they go into a restaurant , doctors office, etc. their mouth remains clean.

Then when they step out of those venues the foul language returns.

It's selective cussing.

If one can clean up their mouth for certain situations why can't they clean it up completely for their God and His glory?

I talked to an old friend the other day who claims to be a Christian yet he uses foul language regularly.
I don't like being around him much anymore because he uses foul language when he talks to me.
He knows it offends me but does it anyway.

What makes it worse, he tries to justify it!

I quoted many of the scriptures listed below but they did not check him one bit.

Why doesn't he stand up before his church one Sunday morn and testify for the Lord and throw all his foul words into the testimony?

How well do you think it would be received by his Pastor and congregation?

How much respect would he have for his Pastor if his Pastor preached using foul language ?

He kept on and on justifying his foul language!
I told him, "I'm ending this conversation"!
He responded, "That's good because your never going to win!"

As I left his house a scripture came to mind!
Proverbs 23:9

"SPEAK NOT INTO THE EARS OF A FOOL, FOR HE WILL DESPISE THE WISDOM OF THY WORDS!"

If a filthy mouth person invited me to visit their church "WHY" would I go there?

Show me true holiness and that will get me to want what you have!

Below are a host of scriptures against foul language. Many more in the Word.
