Spring Forth
by PamFord Davis

As a teenager, I shared many things with my best girlfriends.  We shared secrets, records, magazines and even clothes. I can’t speak for the boys I knew. I’m guessing they did share secrets and possibly hot rod or sports magazines. I doubt very much they even considered sharing clothes.

I also shared clothes with my sisters and mother. There were advantages to mother and daughters all measuring at around 5 feet tall (or rather short).

Jesus has shared clothes. He gave me garments of salvation and a robe of righteousness.

“I will greatly rejoice in the Lord,
My soul shall be joyful in my God;
For He has clothed me with the garments of salvation,
He has covered me with the robe of righteousness,
As a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments,
And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
For as the earth brings forth its bud,
As the garden causes the things that are sown in it to spring forth,
So the Lord God will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations (Isaiah 61:10-11HCSB).”

Jesus gave so freely; gambling soldiers took His garments.

“Then they crucified Him, and divided His garments, casting lots, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet:

‘They divided My garments among them,
And for My clothing they cast lots (Matthew 27:35 HCSB).”
