Life Support
by PamFord Davis

The news is not good; we hear that a family member or friend is on life support.

We get a sinking feeling; it seems there is little chance that the individual will rally and recover.

Yet, aren’t we all on life support?

God is the giver of life, my sustainer and life support. He gives me breath; the air that fills my lungs has been provided by Him. He created the waters that keep me hydrated and foods that turn into fuel for physical energy.

Yes indeed; I’m on life support.

My physical needs are being met but He knows that spiritual life is far more important. Minute by minute, he checks my vital signs. When in need of strength, He breathes His Holy Spirit power into my innermost being. If stressed, my pulse races; He leads me beside still waters.

Living waters bring renewal and refreshment. He drew me to His Son Jesus, the bread of life. He is the living Word. I feed on Him. If not, I will shrivel up and waste away. Am I on life support?

I should say so!

“For as the Father raises the dead and gives life to them, even so the Son gives life to whom He will (John 5:21 NKJV).”

On life support…

“As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on Me will live because of Me (John 6:57 NKJV).”

I live.

“And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand (John 10:28 NKJV).”
