Astronomy
by PamFord Davis

God has forbidden the worship of astrology (horoscopes). He created the heavens; the universe, sun, moon and the stars. We worship God and give Him praise for His handiwork.

Scientists study the constellations (astronomy). In the Book of Job, we read a pertinent passage.

“Can you bind the cluster of the Pleiades,
Or loose the belt of Orion?
Can you bring out Mazzaroth in its season?
Or can you guide the Great Bear with its cubs?
Do you know the ordinances of the heavens?
Can you set their dominion over the earth (Job 38:31-33 NKJV).”

Dr. D. James Kennedy, (Pastor of Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church, Ft. Lauderdale FL- 1960-2007) delivered a captivating sermon about the constellations.

King David, Psalmist said this…

“When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers,
The moon and the stars, which You have ordained,
What is man that You are mindful of him,
And the son of man that You visit him?
For You have made him a little lower than the angels,
And You have crowned him with glory and honor.

You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands;
You have put all things under his feet,
All sheep and oxen—
Even the beasts of the field,
The birds of the air,
And the fish of the sea
That pass through the paths of the seas.

O Lord, our Lord,
How excellent is Your name in all the earth (Psalm 8:3-9 NKJV).”
