A Craving
by PamFord Davis

You never know what might spark someone's interest.

I have been pleasantly surprised by the number of comments on one of my recent Facebook posts. It was a video clip of blackberry picking and many have shared ‘berry’ special memories.  Most were fond memories; sadly, one was a message of sorrow. Strange as it may sound, we reminisce about fruit picking.

I picked ‘blackcap’ berries with my sisters and friends along the fence row by the Mycenae ‘crick’ (creek). I picked Bartlett pears from the back yard tree and McIntosh apples from the  orchard behind our house. With best friend Carol, I picked purple plumbs on her property. At her neighbors, we picked juicy strawberries and raspberries. Making your mouth water? Mine too!

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law (Galatians 5:22-23 NKJV).”

I have a craving for the fruit of the Spirit.

“I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser.  Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.  Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.

‘I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing (John 15:1-5 NKJV).”
