HOW DOES MY LIFE EFFECT OTHERS?
by Lewis E. Thomas

HOW DOES MY LIFE EFFECT OTHERS?

Lord, how does my life effect others from day to day?
If you answered my question Lord, what would you say?

Does my life "bless others" with love and kindness to glorify your name?
Or does my life inflict on others cruelty, revenge, suffering and pain?

Does my life reflect the forgiveness of God up above?
Or do I hold tightly to grudges and unforgiveness against those I claim I love?

How does my life effect my father, my mother, and the rest of my family clan?
Do they count me as a caring, loving, forgiving, and holy man?

Am I an "arrow in their heart" inflicting them with constant grief and pain?
When you look down on me Lord, do I bring shame to your name?

Do I punish those who have offended me, to make them suffer year after year?
Does it give me a sick twisted pleasure to be the source causing their tears?

Do I shoot revenge tipped arrows into their hearts by writing them off my list?
Lord, am I holding grudges against my parents, my neighbors, my brother or my sis?

Am I teaching my children to hold grudges against anyone who steps on their toes!
How many times have I offended others never offering an apology?
God only you know!

Lord, How long... should I make another suffer and pay?
Who dared to offend me or get in my way?

Do I tell myself I've never offended anyone for any reason of any kind!
Do I think I am perfect and faultless and one of a kind!

Lord, am I walking on Heaven's straight and narrow way?
Lord, If you checked my record, what would you have to say?

Lord, when others think on me are they reminded of your kindness and grace?
Or do my grudges cause a stream of tears to roll down their face?

How does my life effect others?

Matthew 6:14-15

14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:15 but if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
